The almost non-stop train from Paddington to Taunton at Friday lunchtime, pick up the rental car and drive the 45 km down to the coast gets you there in time for a nice stroll on the beach before dinner.

English lunch in Branscombe: Celery-walnut-blue cheese sandwich and a glass of Elderflower cordial in the garden of the National Trust old bakery.
